1. Incorporate Color Into Your Gown

At New York Bridal Fashion Week, I saw gorgeous gowns in a variety of hues, from pink to icy blue to black for 2012. If you're dead-set on wearing a white dress, you can still find ways to include a pop of color in your bridal ensemble.

Consider asking your seamstress to sew your favorite colorful fabric to your wedding dress' crinoline petticoat; as you walk down the aisle, everyone will catch glimpses of your favorite color beneath your long white gown.

2. Photo Finish

You may have heard of brides and grooms renting photo booths, but "back drops" (where guests use a variety of props and backgrounds to take snapshots) are an emerging trend.

The possibilities are endless— Try individual handheld photo frames in a variety of colors, a favorite quilt, or setting up in front of a great architectural element at your venue.

3. Go Natural

Hearty flowers in subdued hues and even trees (see: Royal Wedding Ceremony) add a clean, fresh feel to your fête. Rafanelli recommends miniature calla lillies in white, green, lavender, or brown for receptions outdoors.

4. Mix, Match And Miniaturize

Smaller centerpieces will reign supreme in 2012, especially in multiple container shapes and sizes. Consider a combination of exotic flowers mixed with the classics (roses, orchids, calla lillies) to add a modern feel to your wedding décor.

Tight bunches of hot pink carnations in square containers, coupled with orchids in another holder can look great, even with mini English roses in another container. It's all about balance.

Also don't be afraid to mix a couple of vibrant colors ("Tangerine Tango" was revealed as the new Color of the Year by Pantone). These eye-catching set-ups were created by Nikki Khan.

The Complete Wedding Stationery Guide

So you're getting married! Congratulations! As you have no doubt already discovered, deciding to get married is just the first of many decisions you'll need to make on the way to the big day. This column is intended to help you navigate through some of the finer points surrounding wedding stationery. We'll also look at a few "modern issues," areas where contemporary tastes run counter to tradition.

Invitations set the tone:
Your wedding invitation will set the tone for your event. Whatever you decide to do for your celebration, your invitation should reflect both the event and your personality!

While the traditional ecru or white paper stock engraved with black ink is still the most popular choice for a formal invitation, more liberal approaches are "pushing the envelope," like invitations on textured papers, in multiple colors, and with custom wedding designs. Whether you plan to exchange vows in a hotel, a place of worship, or on a secluded island beach, show your personal style and create a wedding invitation that truly expresses who you are, your values, and your individuality.

With that said, it is still important to follow a few basic guidelines when planning your wedding stationery. Below is an overview that will acquaint you with the basics of wedding stationery. Please call or come see us when you're ready to put your stationery plans "on paper."

Planning Your Invitation

Order all of your invitations at the same time, leaving ample time to have them printed and addressed. Gather and bring all the information you will need to create your wedding invitation:

Parents' names
Groom's middle name
Number of people attending reception vs. wedding

Getting Formal
The most formal invitation is on ecru (cream) or white stock engraved with black or dark-gray ink. It is folded in half, with the text of the invitation on the front outside panel. A less formal invitation is on an unfolded ecru or white card. Either of these papers may be plain or paneled.

Lettering Style
There are dozens and dozens of typefaces to choose from, from frilly scripts to austere all-caps. Choose one that expresses the spirit of your occasion and matches the tone of the stationery you decide upon.

All pieces in your wedding ensemble should use the same paper and ink color.

Wording Your Invitation

The content of a formal wedding invitation is fairly straightforward, albeit slightly more complicated these days due to changes in social attitudes and family structures. Regardless of your particular situation, the lines of your invitation should be in the following order:

1. The hosts' names
Formal invitations begin with the person or people involved with the hosting, using formal names and titles. For example:

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter

If the bride and groom are hosting their own wedding the first lines would read:

Isabelle Marie Johnson
and
Jack Hamden Robert
request the honor of your presence
at their marriage

2. Invite your guests

"requests the honor of your presence"
(use honor when the wedding is taking place in a house of worship; honor when the location is a hotel, club, etc.)

Casual:
"requests the pleasure of your company"

3. State the affair and relationship to the bride

"at the wedding of their daughter"

4. The bride's first and second name

"Isabelle Marie"

If the bride's last name is different from the host's, it should also be included on this line, e.g.:

"Isabelle Marie Johnson"

5. The connecting, "to"
This always goes on its own line in a formal invitation.

"to"

6. The groom's full name
If the bride is using a professional title, such as

"Doctor Marie Ann Consalves,"

you should then also include the groom's personal title,

"Mr.," "Dr.,"

or whatever the case may be.

7. The day and month
In a formal invitation, spell out completely the date, time, and location of your wedding. Thus, the date would be:

"Saturday, the twentieth of June"

8. The year

"Nineteen hundred and ninety-eight"

9. The time

"at two o'clock in the afternoon"

10. The location

"The Waybridge Country Club"

11. City and state

"Waybridge, New Hampshire"

12. Reception line
If you are planning to have your reception at the same location as the wedding, the line

"and afterward at the reception"

"reception immediately following ceremony"

should follow the city and state.

The Reception Card

If you are holding your reception at a different location than that of your wedding, you will probably want to include a reception card with your invitation. This is helpful in a couple of ways: First, it will not crowd the text on your invitation. Secondly, if you are inviting only some guests to the reception, it is convenient to simply add a reception card to the wedding invitations of those guests.

The card should include the name and address of the establishment with

"Reception immediately following the ceremony"

at the top of the card.

Assembling Your Invitations

The double envelope, that courtly feature of the formal wedding invitation, has its origins in the days when footmen delivered invitations to the landed class. At delivery, the footman would remove the clean invitation from its well-traveled outer envelope. The custom has survived, although with modern postal service the outer envelope is now sealed, with the inner unsealed and placed with the guest's name face up so that it can be read immediately upon extracting it from the outer.

Tissues were originally conceived in the days when inks took a bit longer to dry. Printers placed a tissue over the ink so that it would not smear. Today ink is quick-drying so tissues are not imperative, but used out of tradition. If you choose to use a tissue, it is the first sheet of paper that covers the printed text of your invitation. The large sheet of tissue is for your invitation, the small for your reply card and other small enclosures.

Place items in inner envelope in relation to importance and size:

Reception card
Other items, such as direction cards and accommodation cards, can be placed in order of size. If there are 2 cards that are of the same size, place them in order of importance.

Addressing Your Envelopes

General rules:

Spell out all Avenues, Roads, Streets, Boulevards, etc.
Use the complete name of guest: i.e., Richard, not Rich
Write out numbers one to twenty; higher numbers write numerically
Junior, Senior: should be stated on outside envelope, not inner
A boy under age 13 is referred to as "Master"

Finally! The Mailing!

Before sending your invitations, take a sample to the post office with all pieces to confirm that you're applying the proper postage before mailing! If you have international addresses, it is important to ask for postage for each individual country to which an invitation is being sent. These measures will ensure prompt delivery of your invitations.

Once everything is properly stamped, you will want to adhere to the following timelines for mailing your invitations:

Four to six weeks before the event is the general rule for mailing your invitations to ensure your guests receive their invitations and are able to respond in sufficient time. If you have guests traveling from outside the regional area, it is courteous to mail their invitations 6-8 weeks ahead of your wedding date so that they can make travel arrangements. As well, if you are planning your wedding around a holiday weekend, it is a good idea to get your invitations out 6-8 weeks prior so that your guests are sure to make your wedding the focus of the holiday.
Regardless of when the invitations are sent, they should all be mailed at the same time.

Now, sit back and relax - and start thinking about other paper planning! Your wedding reception will allow you to further personalize your affair and carry the theme of your invitations right through the day of your wedding. These stationery pieces can include invitations to the rehearsal dinner, the wedding program, placecards or escort cards, menus, and table numbers. The Thoughtful and the Tasteful

Other printed stationery that is both useful and appropriate:
The Ceremony Card: If you are planning an intimate wedding with a small group of family and friends, but are then going to have a bash to celebrate, enclose a ceremony card along with the reception card.

Wedding Announcements Send these out the day of your wedding to friends who you did not invite to your wedding, but to whom you would like to announce your marriage! The traditional announcement would look like your invitation, in ecru or white paper with black ink - engraved or thermographed in the style of your wedding invitations. Mail in double envelopes.

Gift Received Cards A gift received card is a helpful and tactful way of acknowledging the gift of your guest without delay, especially if you are having a large wedding or an extended honeymoon. The card acknowledges a gift and notes that a personal thank-you will soon follow.

Personalized Stationery Traditionally, the bride took on the role of thanking the couple's guests for wedding gifts. Nowadays, however, the groom is more likely to lend a hand or shoulder the burden. When he does, his monogram should be on cards he is writing, hers on the notes she will write.

Note cards with the married couple's name, e.g.,

"Mr. and Mrs. Johnson,"

are used by husband and wife for replying to formal invitations, sending thank-you's, personal notes, or an invitation.

Band VS DJ ?

No doubt about it: Music can make or break a wedding celebration. It's the heart and soul of a reception and can send your guests home with happy feet -- or pained grimaces! The fact that you want to hire a talented band or fleet-fingered DJ is a given. Finding one is a matter of polling friends, surfing online, shopping around with fine-tuned ears, and making a move quickly -- top talent can get booked up to a year in advance. What type of entertainment suits your personal taste, budget, space allowances, guest demographics, and killer dance moves best? Keep an open mind, and consider these issues to start your search.

Vibe

The type of music you choose can set the tone of your wedding and solidify a theme. And remember, it's the thing people most often remember. Think about what musical genre best reflects your personalities and inspires the ambiance you want to create: Groovy funk or subdued string quartet? Swanky swing or kick-off-your-shoes-and-sweat zydeco? The way the music is delivered -- by live band or DJ -- also affects the ambiance. The type of music you choose may dictate the choice too -- big band sounds are generally best live, for example.

Variety

Are you a little bit country, while he's a little bit rock and roll? Regardless of whether you choose a band or DJ, be sure they play slow and fast songs, and old and new tunes to encourage different sets of guests to hit the dance floor.

Budget

In the price war, DJs generally cost less, and prices vary depending on equipment requests and whether it's a weekday or a weekend. A 12-piece band, for example, will generally be more expensive than a DJ, since there are more people to pay. (There are always exceptions; celebrity DJs can be just as expensive as live bands.) Band prices vary by the number of musicians, the amount of time you want them to play for, day of the week, and what time of year it is.

Space

Don't get your heart set on an 8-piece salsa band before you check whether the reception site has any restrictions on the number of musicians and pieces of equipment you may bring in, and whether there are any electrical power supply or noise limitations. Band? or...

There's nothing like a live wedding band to get a crowd stoked and create a sense of sophistication. Music groups can energize with the tone of your wedding and almost any niche theme, offering everything from accordion to klezmer ditties. A good bandleader will play the master of ceremonies at your reception if you want him to interact with folks on the dance floor, pay attention to the "feel" of the room, and select music accordingly.

Pros: Live music is, well, live. You and your guests will experience the pleasure of a performance. Anything can happen to raise the excitement level, from an infectious horn-section interlude to a moving solo.

Cons: Bands can be more expensive than DJs. Also, no matter how great the band, they can't have the repertoire of a standard DJ, who can keep a huge variety of music on hand.

...DJ?

Don't fear the DJ: The days of disco fever and flashing lights are gone. Today's disc jockeys are artists in their own right, offering balanced and eclectic mixes of musical styles for all ages. Plus, the songs played will sound exactly as you remember them, encouraging sing-longs and improvisation. And, depending on the amount of equipment a DJ brings, she'll take up less dance floor real estate and can be relocated with relative ease.

Pros: If there are a dozen songs you're dying to hear at your wedding, it likely won't be a problem for your DJ to find each track. Also, DJs are generally less expensive than bands. A DJ with a charismatic stage presence and excellent emcee skills can really set the mood and keep the party going.

Cons: On the opposite end of the spectrum, a DJ with a less-than stellar personality can be a party-killer. Also, improvisation is tough if, say, your dad is dragging behind tempo on the father-daughter dance or your nieces and nephews decide to crash the chicken dance.

You Must Remember This...Ideally, you will want to see a DJ or band in action before you commit so that you can gauge firsthand the way they dress, deadpan, and work the crowd. (Ask to see a taped public performance or attend a dress rehearsal, but you should never crash another couple's reception.) If that's not a possibility, ask for a playlist, and look for songs you know and love. If a band gives you a CD, cassette, or video, be sure that the musicians you hear or see are the same musicians who will play at your reception. Also, ask for referrals from the last few weddings the band or DJ played. Consider your first-dance song a test. If the band doesn't know it and is unwilling to learn it, or the DJ doesn't own it and is unwilling to get it, move on.

Before You Sign

Know that all professionals should be open to your likes and dislikes. Give them your personal request list, songs they must, and, perhaps more importantly, a do-not-play list. Worried that you'll hear the "Macarena" at your once-in-a-lifetime event? Specifically prohibit the playing of a song you feel strongly about in your contract.

The Bride (my daughter), has found"The dress".
Although I cant post any pictures of it, I must say that we all knew the minute she put it on that this was the one.
THE BASICS
Even if you haven't been envisioning your wedding dress since you were a little girl, odds are you want to make a statement on your wedding day. But between necklines, silhouettes, and other bridal gown details, there is a lot to keep in mind when you first start shopping for your wedding dress.
What you need to know before you go

First, do not be shy about shopping early. You want to start nine to 12 months before your wedding day to give yourself time to order a dress and get in all of your wedding dress fittings. If you start shopping less than six months out, you will probably have to be flexible about which dress you choose since most couture and custom wedding dress designers won't be able to produce the dress in time. Next, you need to find a good bridal salon.

Outlets will stock "out of season" gowns (don't worry, this just means they were not in the most recent season's line, not that they won't be fashionable!) or dresses by lesser-known designers. Learn the parts of the dress -- from the train to the sleeve style -- and get a good idea about silhouettes like mermaid, trumpet, A-line, and sheath. You should also have an idea of what style dress you want -- if you are looking for a beach wedding dress, a formal princess ball gown might not fit into the look you are going for.

This number is what your going to say when the bridal salon asks "how much is in your budget?"
Now say you have $1500 as a budget but your are WILLING to go to $2000.
DO NOT...I REPEAT, DO NOT say this to the sales person because the first thing she will do is pull dresses $ 1700 & up..

Alterations is another money maker for any bridal retailer.
My suggestion is to find an experienced tailor (preferably word of mouth).

Invitations:
When it comes to invitations, maintaining an equal balance of etiquette and clarity is very important.
You might want to think of meaningful quotations, song lyrics, or any other phrases that will give your
guests a sense of the style of your wedding, just don’t forget to include the basics.
The basics include:
Name of host/hostess or parents hosting the event.
The purpose of the invitation: A Wedding, A Birthday Party, A Baby Shower.
Name of honoree (the bride and groom, the birthday person, the mother-to-be).
Name and location of place/venue where the event will be held.
Day, date and time of the event.
URL of your wedding website (optional)
Response card, direction card and/or accommodation card (optional).
Proof-read several times for mistakes and/or forgotten information.
General rules:
Wedding invitations should convey the mood of the event be it formal, whimsical, or intimate.
Wedding invitations need to communicate the details about the proceedings of the day.

Helpful Hints Preparation is important. The best shoots are ones where you feel rested and fresh. Tan lines should be kept to a minimum. Remember that it can take a fresh haircut a week or more to grow out. Fingernails should be painted in a neutral color that doesn’t detract from clothing.
A relaxed environment is key

A relaxing environment is essential to a good photo session. Feel free to bring your own music or some people like to bring a trusted friend along for support. Bring anything that makes you feel comfortable and at ease.

Every good look you can come up with improves your marketability Multiple clothing changes show your versatility. Consider simple clothing for close-up headshots that doesn’t distract from your face. For full-length shots, try to vary your look. Consider eveningwear, business-attire, casual outfits, and swimsuits. Try to bring some clothes that are classic, timeless, and simple in addition to outfits that reflect current fashion trends. Simple jewelry is preferred, such as diamond or pearl studs.
Among the different types of photos we can do are:
Beauty - Close-up full face shots or head and shoulders. These photos require meticulous make-up and retouching. This is what you typically see on fashion magazine covers.
Commercial - These images are used by advertisers to sell clothing, cosmetics, or other products. Swimsuit - We can shoot swimsuit photos in the studio against a backdrop, or, weather permitting, on Boston Commons.
Fashion - Fashion photography is used by designers in advertising. For this type of photo, think of current fashion trends or looks that capture a particular moment in time, such as a 60s look. Clean, solid colors are best. Avoid aggressive prints.
Editorial - In editorial photos, we can push the edges and feel free to be more creative. This is where your imagination really comes into play, so choose clothing that shows your versatility.

Wedding Reception Venues: Ask Essential Questions to Avoid Hidden Costs

It's no secret that wedding planning is full of surprises and hidden costs. If you haven't hired a wedding planner, it can be hard to know how to avoid snags along the way, especially when choosing your wedding venue. Be sure to read this before you sign a contract and hand over your first check. Once most venues have a non-refundable deposit, you lose a lot of negotiating power.

Venue and Contract Details

Space Issues: Although your venue will most likely give you the facts on how many people your space will hold, it is important to ask them if they are taking into consideration the deejay or band size, cake table, gift table, etc. It is easy for them to say that they can fit 10 tables of 10 people into a room, but the real question is whether or not there will be room for anything else.

Administrative Fees & Taxes: Make sure to ask if there are any administrative fees. Administrative fees are usually established to cover staffing costs for the night and are usually a percentage of your total food & beverage costs. Be sure to ask exactly what they cover. Also, make sure you know what will be taxed and how much tax is associated with certain items. For example, if you request a special glass for your champagne toast, it may be subject to a tax.

Time Limits: Ask how long you have the venue. If a venue requires that you and your guests be out of the space by 11:00 p.m. but you want your reception to last until midnight, most venues charge you a fee for that extra hour. Also, ask what time your vendors will be allowed to bring in their goods. This is important when considering vendors' time restraints.

Parking: Do not assume that parking is included in your cost. Most venues charge a fee for their valet service as well as their parking garages.

Food & Beverage

Minimums: Your venue will probably give you some information on the food and beverage details up-front, but hidden costs are very likely when dealing with food and alcohol. If your venue does not give you the food and beverage minimum up-front, you need to ask for it. It is important to know if the required minimum is not in your budget. Also keep in mind that the food and beverage minimum is not the minimum for anything else (i.e. linens, table rentals, etc). It is strictly the minimum for food and drink only.

Set-up Fees: Be sure to ask about set-up fees because you will most likely not hear about them until you get your contract. Some venues charge flat set-up fees for the room set-up, the bar set-up, etc. and they can be costly.

Waiter, Bartender, and Attendant Fees: Most venues charge another separate flat fee for waiters, bartenders, and attendants for various things such as manning the coat check or stationary hors d'ouerve tables.

Bar Fees: If you are having an open bar, check into potential hidden fees such as, bartender fees and check into what is stocked at your bars. Some venues only stock beer, soft drinks, and wine or particular brands of beer, soft drinks, and wine. If you want hard liquors such as vodka or gin, or brands that they do not stock, you may wind up paying extra. Also if you are interested in having your bar based on consumption, which means a tally of drinks is kept by the bartender throughout the night and you pay afterwards based on the total count of drinks, make sure your venue allows it. Lastly, don't assume a champagne toast is complimentary.

Outside Vendors

Restrictions: First and foremost, make sure that outside vendors are even allowed. Some venues require that you use their "approved" vendors because they have strict contracts with them. Approved vendors can include cake companies, flower companies, entertainment companies, and photographer & videographer companies. So if you were hoping that your cousin could be your photographer, you better check to see if that is allowed.

Vendor Meals: Most photographers and band or deejay members require that you provide them a meal at your wedding. Most venues have something written into their contracts to ensure your vendors get a meal, often at discount prices. Make sure to ask about the price of these meals. If you are required to pay the full cost of the meal, you may want to factor that price into your budget.

Décor

Restrictions: If you have visions of 300 votive candles twinkling at your reception, be sure to ask if that's allowed. Some venues will not allow certain candles or flowers.

"House" Supplies: Some venues have "house" supplies which are basically supplies that they keep stocked at their venue that are included in your cost. Unfortunately, sometimes these house supplies are the lowest quality goods. For example, most venues' house linens are white or ivory cotton linens. If you want silk or decorative linens, you may have to pay for your venue to rent them. Also, venues often have the lowest quality house chairs and china. The beautiful chairs that they have set up when you view the venue might not be the chairs that they stock.

Permanent Fixtures: Some venues will not remove anything from their space for your reception. So although the nautical sign on the wall sets the mood for their everyday atmosphere, if you don't want it there the night you celebrate your marriage, you better ask if they are able to remove it beforehand.

Night of Reception Details

Other events: Be sure to ask if there are any other events going on at the venue on the night of your reception. Although they can't really guarantee that you'll be the only event there that night, if there is another event going on, it's important to ask how that will affect your guests. For example, ask whether or not your guest will have their own bathrooms or whether they have to share them with guests at another event. Also, if you are not at a hotel, you may want to ask whether a bridal suite or area will be provided to you so that you can change if needed or fix your dress throughout the night.

Venue Staff

Coordinator: If you are working with a coordinator or sales person that the venue has provided, you may want to ask if they will be there for the duration of your reception. If you have a problem during the reception, you want to make sure you have someone there who knows the details of your reception plans to help.

References: Asking for references can be helpful. It allows you to ask specific questions and get an unbiased answer.

Correspondence: When you are in the middle of choosing a venue, venues are after your business so there is a quick turn-around time on emails and phone calls. However, once you sign the contract and hand over your first check that may change. Ask the venue what their average turn-around time is for corresponding with you throughout the planning process.

My best overall advice is to ask a venue for a sample contract before you sign your own contract. You can then view what the average wedding reception costs are for that venue. It may seem that there are a lot of questions to ask, but by asking, not only are you avoiding surprises, you are showing the venue that you are a serious customer and that they should treat you accordingly.

1. Skip the Sunscreen. I know many of you are in the good habit of protecting your skin any time you even think about stepping out into the sun. But this is one day you need to break that habit.

Sunscreen does protect your skin, but the high levels of Titanium Dioxide are going to make your face flash white in the camera. So unless you are marrying Casper, skip the sunscreen on your big day.

2. Waterproof….Everything! You may not think you’re going to cry, or that your going to sweat, but believe me, the moment you step out onto the floor with your honey for that first dance, tears are going to come. When you look at magazines, or at a friends photo album, what is it that draws you in to a particular image that you love?? Emotion that is revealed? Beauty of the setting that's captured?
The answer is different for every bride ~ and most professional photographers have developed unique wedding photo styles.

In this blog you'll find some very useful tips on how to find, hire and communicate with your photographer.

#1. Remember ~ You are a couple unlike any other!

You and your fiance need to look through several magazines or online at photographer websites.

Make a list of what you like and dislike about photo styles, color vs. Black & White, etc.

Plus review important decisions such as how many hours of coverage you want, how many albums or photo's your likely to need, and what your budget range is.

#2. Ask lots of questions when your interviewing a photographer...Make sure your a good match!

Ask to see a proof book from someones recent wedding, A great point of reference especially if they have one from your site or the time of year your getting married. This is a better way to assess overall style and quality, rather than just seeing a compilation of their best work.

#3. Don't underestimate the "New" up and coming artists!

The newer photographer can have a more creative eye, diverse techniques, more to prove and a passion like no other!!!!

#4. Communication is key

If you don't provide your photographer with enough information about your style preferences, requested shots and wedding time line, you will be likely be underwhelmed with your wedding album ~ It wont have captured what makes you and your fiance who you are. On the flip side, micromanaging your photographer by dictating exactly which photos are to be shot and in what order, leaving no room for improvisation, is hobbling your artist! You'll miss out on spontaneity and the beauty that can only be captured in the moment.

Your goal is to find a place in between these extremes, in which you have open communication about your expectations, and still allowing your photographer the freedom to use their own expertise to interpret your day with his or her camera.

Complexion/Face:

Begin by preparing the skin with Pro-Prime and creating an Immaculate Complexion.
Bronze the skin with Palm Beach Multiple. Apply to the cheekbones and blend towards the temples. Continue blending along the hairline and jawline.
Blend the deep bronze shade of Calanque (coming soon) from lash to brow with an Eye Shader Brush. Continue using the Eye Shader Brush to apply the matte caramel shade of Calanque (coming soon) on top and blend.
Create more shape and contour to the face with Laguna Bronzer.

Eyes:

Line top and bottom lash lines and the inner rim of the eye with Black Moon Eyeliner Pencil.
Swipe two coats of Larger than Life Volumizing Mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
Define the brows with Coconut Grove Single Eyeshadow applied with a Brow Shader Brush using light feathery strokes.

Lips:

Apply Tzigane Lipstick to the lips from the tube. Create a more opaque effect by dabbing Madere Pure Matte Lipstick on top and blending with a finger or lip brush.

Your Wedding is almost here!

What is left for you to do and when to do it

THREE MONTHS UNTIL YOUR BIG DAY!

WORK ON THIS:

1. check all of your addresses and mail your invitations with LOVE stamps. Remember to check the weight before mailing!

You can send one to the White House and receive a letter signed by the President and the First Lady.

2. Make sure you have all the accessories you need for your look; veil, jewelry, hairpiece, shoes, undergarments and of course something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

3. Contact your local marriage license bureau at the City Clerk's office to find out any special requirements they may have in getting your marriage license. You and your groom must apply in person together, and bring all the necessary paperwork. Don't forget to discuss what your married name will be before you go!

4. Meet with your vendors to make decisions about how your wedding will unfold. What will your first dance song be? Which flowers would you like in your bouquet? Do you have any photo requests? Face to Face time with your hired professionals is instrumental to having your wedding day run smoothly, and in exactly the manner that you want.

THE FINAL WEEKS. NEXT ON YOUR TO-DO LIST :

5. Pick up your wedding bands and make sure they fit properly.

6. As RSV-P's come in, write each attendee's name on a sticky note use paper plates laid out to represent each table and begin to attach these notes around the plates to visualize your seating assignments. Be sure not to put elderly guests or children too close to the speakers.

7. See your hairstylist for any trims, color, or highlights you may need.

(Remember that your everyday hairstylist may or may not have experience with bridal hair.)

8. Pick up your marriage license. Get a floater insurance policy on your home owner's or renter's insurance to cover all of your wedding gifts.

9. Pick up your wedding gown and have your final fitting. Is it pressed properly? Does your maid of honor know how to bustle it

YOUR FINAL DAYS OF PLANNING.

DON'T FORGET THESE TASKS:

10. Confirm everything with your vendors, reception and ceremony sites and wedding coordinator. Give your head counts to your function facility and don't forget to count your vendors, too!

11. Pack for your honeymoon - and don't forget to leave copies of your itinerary with two trusted people at home so you can be contacted in case of an emergency.

WEDDING WEEKEND! FINAL DETAILS TO REMEMBER:

12. Attend your rehearsal and dinner party - Exchange gifts with your fiance and attendants

13. Make sure your wedding coordinator or maid of honor has an emergency kit packed with toiletries, bottled water, pantyhose, nail
polish, etc.

14. If possible, try to be rested. Eat breakfast the morning of your big day and drink lots of water.

15. Take a deep breath, smile, and enjoy your day!

This is definitely one trick we can all try at home (and really you can use any brand of Vitamin E for the same effect).

Beauty doesn't always take hours

Sometimes on photo shoots, makeup artists have limited time to make models look flawless. When that happens,

You know those shots of models looking all dewy, like they just danced the night away? And you know how you look after dancing the night away? It's just not the same, is it? That's because those models haven't perspired one bit, they're made up to look dewy and flushed.

1. For those glistening eyelids, I start off by drawing a tight line around the eyes with Laura Mercier's Black Ebony cake liner

2. If you want amp up the eyes, add on rosebud salve, which will create a higher dose of glossiness.

3. I use Benefit Benetint www.benefitcosmetics.com , $28 on the apples of the cheeks to make the model look sun-kissed, a little rosebud salve on the cheekbones and a bit on the lips to finish off the look.

Strike a pose

Here are four quick tips to look extra hot in photos:
1. If you want to look your best in a photo, try not to stand with your body straight at the camera. Take a tip from celebrities on the red carpet and try turning your body three-quarters to one side, placing your hand that's closest to the camera on your hips, and swiveling your face back around to face the lens (I recommend practicing in the mirror a couple times so you don't look awkward.) 2. Putting your hand on your hip makes your upper arm look thinner, because your arm usually flattens and widens out when it hangs straight at your side.Plus, it adds some at-ti-tude to all your snapshots.3. If you're concerned about a double chin or excess skin on your neck, try to make sure that you are photographed from above -- never straight at your face or from below. To do this, you can sit and have the person with the camera stand in front of you to take your photo while you raise your face slightly to look into the lens. Or just hand your tallest friend the camera and declare him or her the paparazzo for the night.

Full Lips.... but PLEASE No Collagen!

So first of all let me start off by saying..."If you weren't born with it, don't be surgically adding it!" Don't get me wrong, I am a firm believer in the nip and tuck and tighten theory, but we all have seen those collagen enhanced lips and honestly...it looks like a bad reaction to something! So here's the deal...makeup can work wonders to give thin lips a fuller appearance. Here's her step-by-step: 1. I start off by drawing on a matte lipstick or lip-liner in any color with my lip brush to fill in the entire lip. 2. I then dab on a lighter colored opaque gloss right in the middle of the bottom lip and slightly blend it outwards. The model mixes her lips once and I dab again. 3. I then take a [shimmery, highlighter] eye shadow or a multiple stick and apply it on the cupid's bow of the upper lip. The light will pick up on the highlights that I've created on the lip, giving off a softer and fuller lip without it looking overdone. For a completely matte look, I substitute the opaque gloss and use a sheer-pearl eye shadow right in the middle of the lip.
